Termination of co-ownership – Singapore property for rent/ sale
Singapore property for rent/ sale – Co-ownership may be dissolved under the following ways:
- When the co-owners mutually agree to sell off their property and split the sales proceeds among themselves.
- What happens when one co-owner doesn’t agree to end a co-ownership? The owner who wants to end the co-ownership can apply to court to force it to be dissolved and the sales proceeds distributed accordingly.
- When one of the co-owner sells his share to the other co-owner making the other co-owner the sole owner.
- When a plot of land is physically subdivided between two co-owners into two separate titles by mutual agreement or by Court order.
- In the case of a divorce, the Court will decide how the co-ownership will be dissolved and make a Court order accordingly.
- In the case of a joint tenancy, when one of the 2 co-owners passes away, the property is now owned solely by the surviving party.
