Special CPF Housing Grant – HDB for sale
The Special CPF Housing Grant (SHG) was first introduce on 3 March 2011 by MND to help Families earning up to $2,250 a month to buy their first new 2- to 3-room flat direct from HDB. HDB for sale.
From 27 August 2013, the SHG was enhanced to also benefit middle- income household buying up to 4-room new flats direct from HDB in non-mature estates with income of up to $6,500.
From 24 August 2015 the SHG was further enhanced to help first-time home buyers in buying their first new flat direct from HDB by raising the income ceiling for the SHG from $6,500 to $8,500 and by doubling the maximum SHG amount from $20,000 to $40,000 – HDB for sale.
Specifically,
a) The income ceiling for the SHG was raised from $6,500 to $8,500. This will extend the SHG benefits from low-income to middle-income families; and
b) The previous SHG income ceiling for singles buying 2-room Build-To-Order (BTO) flats under the Single Singapore Citizen (SSC) Scheme was raised to $4,250. This will further enhance their ability to afford a 2-room flat.
The new measures will start from the Nov 2015 sales launch – HDB for sale.
The SHG announced is over and above the regular housing subsidy and the Additional CPF Housing Grant (AHG), under the following conditions:
- For first-timers only
- At least one member working continuously for past 1 year.
- Average gross monthly household income of $8,500 or less for past 1 year
- SHG is available for 2-room, 3-room and 4-room new flat applications, and in non-mature estates only
