Lessee deceased – HDB for rent in Singapore

HDB for rent in Singapore – Where a lessee is deceased in a Joint Tenancy:

The surviving joint tenant must inform the HDB branch office of the death as soon as possible so that HDB can do the paperwork to transfer Title to the survivor in the case of Joint Tenancy.

Where a lessee is deceased in a Tenancy-in-Common or as a single owner:

The administrators/executors shall appoint solicitors to apply to Court for Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration, whichever is the case. If the lessee is deceased for more than 6 years, a Court Order to sanction the sale is also required.

The following documents are required to be submitted to HDB during the First Appointment for the resale:

  • Death Certificate (original and 3 photocopies);
  • Grant of Probate/Letters of Administration (if applicable);
  • The Last Will/Inheritance Certificate (if applicable);
  • Court Order to sanction the sale, if owner had died more than 6 years ago (if applicable)
