Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act – Room for rent in Singapore
- Under the LTSA, it is compulsory to form a Management Corporation (MC) which comprises of 3 to 14 Council members elected by SP to represent them.
- MC is a legal entity and can sue and be sued in its corporate name. e.g. Management Corporation Strata Title Plan No. 1234 (MCST Plan No. 1234)
- Main duties of MC are in Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act (BMSMA) – to manage, control and administer common property.
- MC may appoint an Accredited Managing Agent to take charge of the day-to-day management and operations.
- MC has powers to handle management & sinking funds; to introduce by-laws which govern conduct and behaviour on common property.
